Naoko Yamada’s fifth feature film

Synopsis

A girl who can see the colors in people’s hearts joins a band with two other people.. The Colors Within tells the story of young Totsuko Higurashi (Sayu Suzukawa). A girl who sees the colors in anyone’s heart, whenever she meets them.

The animation is stunningly beautiful & is the highlight of the film

She starts a band with her friends, namely Kimi Sakunaga (Akari Takaishi) & Rui Kagehira (Taisei Kido).The Colors Within is a great film. Director Naoko Yamada has given us a charming, slightly funny & will have you in tears by its final scene. However, it is not as flawless as two other animated films I have seen recently, Look Back (2024) or The Boy and the Heron (2023).

The songs are foot-tapping

The vocal performances are spot on. Sayu Suzukawa is spectacular as Totsuko Higurashi. Akari Takaishi is amazing as Kimi Sakunaga.

The supporting cast is brilliant

Taisei Kido is great as Rui Kagehira. The Colors Within is a must-see for anime fans. Watch it on the big screen for a more memorable experience.
